This is my daughter and grand-daughters relaxing at Drvenik, a great place for families. Just a short walk to the beach, put down airbeds, get out the snorkle and goggles and enjoy the warm water. No need to take lunch as people walk round selling corn on the cob, huge, juicy peaches or other fruit in season. Also a great stop off point for islands and nearby towns such as Dubrovnik and Split.

One of my favourite days during my stay in Drvenik was a trip to the island of Kortula. The ferry ride was a relaxing 2 hours before being met by a driver who drove us the short trip to the town of Kortula. We walked round admiring the architecture, Marco Polo’s home and narrow lanes with views of the water at the bottom before stopping for lunch at a pleasant cafe.

I take a small teddy on my travels and took this photo of him on the wall that surrounds the old town of Dubrovnik, a must see part of Croatia. A two hour drive from Drvenik, you see lots of changing scenery along the way.

Radio phones for hire explain the history of the old town and are well worth getting. Make sure you take a water bottle as it’s quite a long walk. Very interesting though. Also make sure you have a spare battery and memory stick for your camera as you’ll take heaps of photos!
